
Mega superstar, Bollywood Legend Amitabh Bachchan will participate in the opening ceremony of upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) beginning on April 3, in Chennai.
The 69-year-old actor, who has been in a break to get better from abdominal operations, last month, is getting ready for the IPL opening ceremony event.
The actor tweeted “Asia cup will over soon and then Indian Premier League begins. Opening ceremony will be in Chennai on April 3rd. I am already preparing for the ceremony.”
He tweeted on his page, “Meeting all the teams and captains will be a great honour. I have seen all of them on Television, and now got a chance to meet them personally.”
Amitabh, known for his baritone and deep voice, was the host for four editions of the game show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ and also hosted the 3rd season of the reality show ‘Big Boss’.
Along with Amitabh, other Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra will also take part in the opening ceremony of IPL-5 to be held at YMCA College of Physical Education on 3rd April.
An IPL release stated, besides Bollywood stars, the ‘Nite’ will also feature performance from a world-class artist.
The ceremony will also feature captains of all the teams signing the MCC Spirit of Cricket document that has been on the show since the inauguration of the league in 2008.
Rajeev Shukla, IPL chairman said in the statement, “With 4 grand successful IPL editions with us, we hope to improve the standards of the tournament even better, as we are looking forward to celebrate DLF IPL 2012 with a great fanfare, beginning with Opening Nite.”
He said, “We would like to thank all the IPL supporters for their ongoing support as they are the ones who made the tournament what it is now. We are proud to gather a great line-up of big names to begin the 2012 IPL season in style.”
The Opening Nite of IPL will start at 7:30 pm; however, gates of the venue will be kept open from 5:00 pm for audience.
The IPL opening ceremony tickets will be available on sale for Rs 1,500 from 16th March, the IPL release added.
