According to latest reports, Deccan Chargers of Hyderabad has signed 5 Indian
uncapped players for the IPL 2012, and one of them is Tanmay Mishra. Tanmay, who was born in Mumbai and who has played 37 ODIs for Kenya, has never played List A or first-class matches for any Indian team; however a representative from Deccan Chargers explained that as the player holds an Indian Passport, he is qualified to be acquired as an Indian uncapped player.
This statement obviously implies that Tanmay Mishra is not going to be counted as one among the foreign players that each franchise is approved to bring to play in Indian Premier League.
Deccan Chargers have also signed 21-year-old Hyderabadi opening batsman Akshath Reddy, Madhya Pradesh medium-pacer TP Sudhindra, Uttar Pradesh batsman Tanmay Srivastava and Odisha right-hand batsman Biplab Samantray
The 25 year old middle-order batsman, Tanmay Mishra, was one of the few bright cricket players from Kenya spotted during World Cup, 2011 season; He made 2 and half centuries in the series, including an individual innings of 72 runs against Australia in Bangalore. On the day Deccan Chargers declared that they had signed Mishra, he made 70 runs not out in the innings in Kenya’s win against Ireland in Mombasa, in a World Cricket League Championsip.
Sudhindra and Reddy, both have gained IPL contracts after impressive Ranji Trophy performances. Reddy made 524 runs at an average of 65.50, in his second season, with 3 centuries. Sudhindra was the top wicket-taker with 40 wickets at an average of 18.70, in the Elite division.
Srivasta, 22 years old, has already played 26 List-A matches and 45 first-class matches, and has made 6 centuries in each format, while Biplab Samntray made his maiden first class century in the Ranji Season, 2011-2012, with an innings of 171 against Uttar Pradesh. Srivasta has even played 7 matches for Kings XI Punjab throughout the IPL season of 2008-2009, but did not find a chance to show his contribution with the bat.
